As you can see, one bill has already been passed, and now there is an unlimited discussion and filibuster over the other bill.

Connect with reporters from the National Assembly.

Reporter Suhwan Yoo, is the discussion still going on?

<Reporter>

Yes, it has been going on for 3 hours now.

One hour after the opening of the plenary session, the amendment bill to the Prosecutor's Office Act, one of the bills to close the inspection, was passed, followed by the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act, the other axis.

People's Power lawmakers immediately set out for unlimited debate, a filibuster.

As the first runner, Rep. Kim Hyung-dong, a member of the People's Power, poured out opposing opinions, saying, "We should humbly accept the criticism of the people for legislation that avoids the prosecution's investigation into election crimes through opposition parties."

Then, a little while ago, Democratic Party lawmaker Ki-sang Choi began to clarify the justification for handling the bill, saying, "We need a reform of the prosecution that separates the powers of investigation and prosecution."

Then, when will the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act be voted on?

<Reporter>

Yes, if the unlimited debate continues until midnight today (30th), the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act will be raised to the first agenda at the plenary session on the 3rd of next month and put to a vote immediately.

This filibuster is also because, as in the case of the last Prosecutor's Office Act filibuster, the session of the special session of the National Assembly was shortened to one day today by the Democratic Party, so it will automatically end at midnight today.

The provision of prohibition of the so-called separate investigation, which restricts the prosecution's supplementary investigation of controversial police cases, is not included in the amendment to the Prosecutor's Office Act passed today, but is included in the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office immediately issued a statement after the bill was passed and said, "The bill was passed while the procedures stipulated by the Constitution and the National Assembly Act were neutralized."

He also asked the president and the Speaker of the National Assembly to "consider it to the end and make a decision."
